905.1: TUSCO TERROR + WETHER "GIVER" C20
on new years day i made a 400+ mile trek to cleveland, oh in which moods were low, weather was shitty, and i only had one pair of socks and some canvas shoes, which don't do shit to protect your feet in mounds of snow. in a couple of hours snot was pouring out of my face and I felt like dying right where i stood. by midnight or so tusco terror was ripping it and i thought "yeah, this is exactly what should be happening right now". dudes were spilling themselves over a mess of cables and semi-functional equipment. just pure blown out destruction. not sure how long it was before i asked them to do this split, but here it is. kind of like a documentation of falling down, getting up, and stumbling through the haze. disgruntled material from both parties. |

905.2: FOSSILS "AIRPORT JOURNALS" C30
the first time i saw fossils i was sitting far to stoned on a piano bench in ontario and they fucking killed it. i like to think that is exactly how they recorded "airport journals" - superfluously blazed on some canadian piano furniture. the boughner / smith / payne trio bring it here with thirty minutes of circuit crunching, mind numbing, limb twitching junk. shit that makes you grind your teeth and then fall over. these are some serious bottom of the ocean sounds. everything was recorded live, straight to tape, making for some raw crawls into the gutter. |

905.3: WETHER "POST-CAVE MUSIC" C24
the first wether material to arise from the new homestead. side a is one looping burner focusing mainly on a steady cycle of decaying loops. the b side is split up into two feedback laden, rotten drone plagues. everything was recorded straight to tape with no "post-production" taking place. MP3: pearls in place of eyes |

905.4: ALTAR OF FLIES "THE FUNERAL TAPES" C30
originally released as a very private press on swedish imprint ksp, the material on "the funeral tapes" was just far to emphatic to stay hidden. mattias gustafsson, the whiz behind the altar of flies moniker, spends about a half an hour conjuring up narcotic vibes and sickly tantrums that boil down to some truly eerie sermons. everything from the layers of creep synth, the dense beats, even the sporadic moments of silence between stabs of feedback all manage to sound abnormal and perfect at the same time. the final track plays like a john carpenter tune (think escape from new york, not ghost of mars) with moments where you could imagine carpenter is attempting to teach free jazz to martians. 905.5: VESTIGIAL LIMB "LUNG FLUID" C20 true story: the exact second i popped the master for "lung fluid" into my stereo my entire block lost power, which stayed off for just over twelve hours. now maybe the cause was the huge storm raging outside, i don't know, i'm not a scientist. all i'm saying is that i wouldn't be surprised if vestigial limb blacked out the town. ray shinn continues his slow motion menacing with two more tracks of rumbling taunts. both sides keep a similar audio aesthetic, haunting and crackling their way through a grey mess, while keeping separate moods. side a focuses on a total bleak atmosphere. the flip side drools out shards of panning waves and thick static. utterly sick. 905.6: TEETH COLLECTION & PLASMIC FORMATIONS COLLAB C30
former yes, collapsers and current dayton house mates serve up two helpings of zoned-out, reverb packed activity. these are the sounds that come out of the basements you don't go into, or the small town graveyards that are half paved over. organic and unearthly with freights of gelatinous tones and vocal black magic. MP3: side a (partial) |

905.7: LEAVENWORTH "RETENTION, REUNION" C20
leavenworth, one of the most under-worshiped noize headz around, has been laying tracks of poison for a couple of years now in virtual secret. hailing from fly over country usa, this dude hovers blankets of paint stripping, bong ripping clamor on top of you until a rush of warmth and awkwardness flows through your veins. utilizing a blend of mixer feedback, pedal tickling, and radio transmissions, leavenworth blazes the room thoroughly. |

905.8: BLOWN DOORS "BLOWN MIND" C24
delaware dealers of harsh psychedelics third offering to date. blown doors is the duo of mike haley (wether) and local speed liver sean connolly who together deliver three tracks of enough oppressive vocal manipulation to preform a distortion abortion to an entire village of unwanted belly burdens. "blown mind" is a heavy disturbance that omits straight from speaker to gut. low blows covering cold and forbidding chants. totally new (r)age. MP3: forgiven |

905.13: TIME CAPSULE "BUMMER AFTER BUMMER" C20
mysterious sounds from holes in the ground. the faceless, nomadic zoners known as time capsule drip enigmatic drops of lo-fi, opium laced floaters up and down "bummer after bummer". the exact lineup and instruments used are unknown, but something tells me that the electric bass, clearance rack synths, and possibly a didjeredoo or two don't go unused. some serious space out tunes in a limited run with individually hand painted covers. |

905.16: PILLARS OF HEAVEN "BREEDING MOTHS" C30
light bending, guitar gush from philadelphia peasant magician salvatore giorgi. side a, "the old ways", plays like newton's law of reciprocal actions laid onto magnetic tape. like levitating above overgrown fields until the skies fill with ash and everything is laid baron. side b, "gallows weed", is a (impressively recorded) live track from a house show in 2007. this should prove for once and all that even socially awkward, home-schooled hermits can emit feeling. |

905.17: CALDERA LAKES S/T C30
new born duo of eva aguila (kevin shields / gang wizard) and brittany gould (married in berdichev) lay down some of the most beautiful / hideous / beautiful again experimental music around. the two create juxtopositions of gently sung vocals with scrapyard convulsions layered overtop of each other with results that are next level hypnotic. covers printed on vellum paper. MP3: home no more |

905.18: ARABIAN BLADE S/T C20
the stay-blazed team up of conneticut's chris donofrio and donovan fazzino get up in them guts with some comatose low blows spread out over twenty minutes. tones get deep in the earth, take a nap in the crust, and are discovered years later when they forget to wake up. bring a blanket and maybe a few coffin nails. |

905.21: WETHER + A SNAKE IN THE GARDEN SPLIT C20
head to head harshness from two solo east coasters. this split is kind of like a replay of a show in hartford, ct many moons ago. snake killed the dining room, then wether immediatly brawled the living quarters. if i could remember anything from that night, i would share it here, but it's all pretty much a brain musher. one burner a piece, both 10 minutes of steady pedal pummeling. three different covers. MP3: asitg: as a man thinketh |

905.23: SAM GOLDBERG "CYCLES" C20
my girlfriend works with kids who have special needs, a job which provides her with a plethora of stories that are sometimes heartbreaking and sometimes inspiring. one day she comes home and is telling me about this little girl who (and i swear this is a quote) wont stop touching her brain. apparently the back of her skull never fully developed, or some wacky shit like that, and she tends to jab her digits into the skin like mash potatoes. pretty fucked up, but you gotta wonder what kind of trippy sounds spill out when she hits a sweet spot. i say that to say this... golderb's work on cycles is a mega minimal, high definition brain toucher. heavy use of analog synth intravenous therapy and swelled organ drones that will get us full-skulled fools as close as we can to scratching up some temporal lobe. all the covers are unique, made out of stained glass style film. |
